On April 29th, Barbara was in Columbus, Ohio, to receive two awards from RT Bookreview Magazine. The first was a voted on by the readers of the magazine who selected Barbara the # 1 female author of mainstream fiction. Additionally, Barbara also received a Pioneer Award, which the magazine gives to authors who have been in the business since the 1980s and before. Barbara's Pioneer Award is for creating a new kind of heroine that raised the bar for all heroines to follow. Ceremonies took place at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Columbus, Ohio.

The Hon. Rick Perry, Governor of Texas has just issued a proclamation making Barbara Taylor Bradford a citizen of the state of Texas. The proclamation was made at a ceremony in the presence of former First Lady Barbara Bush and other dignitaries in Houston, while Barbara attended a fundraiser forTaping For The Blind.

The event was followed the next day by a sold-out charity luncheon with over 500 guests attending, sponsored by the Baylor College of Medicine. Barbara was honored on the 30th anniversary of  A Woman of Substance and the launch of her new bestselling novel, Breaking The Rules.

BTB GETS HER OBE FROM QEIIA luxury edition of Barbara Taylor Bradfords A Woman of Substance was recently published by HarperCollins to coincide with the 30th anniversary of this classic novel.

Copies of the limited edition book - with a one-off print run of 750 copies - will all be beautifully covered with luxury purple velvet. This week, BTB spoke to and entertained in excess of 2000 fans and readers in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson Arizona, presenting her latest bestselling novel, Breaking The Rules.

At a major luncheon to support the Arizona Kidney Foundation, Barbara spoke to over 1,200 attendees after being introduced by CNN's Larry King. This stellar event was held at the Biltmore Resort. Other special guests included Valerie Bertinelli and Phil Donahue (pictured above). Dozens had to be turned away from this sold-out gala.

Earlier in the week, Barbara was the guest of honor at a pair of events for Brandeis University alumni in Scottsdale and Tucson. Both sold-out events were attended by approximately 1000 enthusiastic women.

Upon departing for New York, Barbara told press reps that, "while tiring, this Arizona trip was one of the most rewarding I have participated in. The Kidney Foundation's work and research is vitally important."

Barbara spent many hours signing books to her fans and got to personally thank them for their loyalty.

Best-selling novelist, Barbara Taylor Bradford was awarded her OBE (The Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II on October 10, 2007. The official Investiture took place at Buckingham Palace in London. This award, which was announced in June, was on the Queen's Birthday Honors List. It recognizes Mrs. Bradford for her services to Literature. Her husband, Robert Bradford accompanied her to the Investiture.

Barbara Taylor Bradford was born in Leeds, Yorkshire and started her professional writing career on the Yorkshire Evening Post. She is the author of twenty-two international bestsellers, including her twenty-third novel, Heirs of Ravenscar. Over (81) eighty one-million copies of her books have been sold worldwide in 90 countries and over 40 languages.

"I am thrilled and excited, as well as very honored to receive the OBE from the Queen," says Mrs. Bradford. "Going to Buckingham Palace and accepting this award from Queen Elizabeth was a very special occasion."

On Monday, July the 7th, Barbara was honored by the British Isle of Man with a rare postal honor. Barbara attended the ceremonies on the Island during the Tynwald Holiday Weekend where she was the guest of honor in a series of events including the unveiling of her new postage stamp. The primary highlight took place on July 7th where Barbara was invited to join Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II in a series of public events, including a march in the royal procession for the Tynwald ceremonies. The stamp sheet features the cover of Barbara's brand new novel, Emma's Secret, which includes scenes that take place on the Island. A microscopic excerpt from the new book is imprinted at the bottom of the sheet and can be viewed through a magnified glass. These official postage stamps, which have received Royal Approval, can be ordered through the Isle of Man post office, including a limited quantity of autographed First Day Covers. The award presentation is made Hall of Fame President Robert Stockdale. Since 1979, Bradford has been the world's bestselling women's author. She joins past Hall of Fame inductees, including Ernest Hemingway, Robert Frost, Dr. Suess and Mark Twain. The hall opened in 1994.
