Barbara also discusses the "Woman Of Substance Awards", her new novel Breaking The Rules, and the secrets to the success of her 45-year marriage. On April 29th, Barbara was in Columbus, Ohio, to receive two awards from RT Bookreview Magazine. The first was a voted on by the readers of the magazine who selected Barbara the # 1 female author of mainstream fiction. Additionally, Barbara also received a Pioneer Award, which the magazine gives to authors who have been in the business since the 1980s and before. Barbara's Pioneer Award is for creating a new kind of heroine that raised the bar for all heroines to follow. Ceremonies took place at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Columbus, Ohio.

On Thursday, April 15th, Barbara was the guest of honor at the Brandeis University Author & Celebrity Award Day Luncheon in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. In addition to her appearance, Barbara will also be honored with a special inscription in the LEARNED RESEARCH JOURNALS at the Brandeis University Library in Boston, MA.

The Hon. Rick Perry, Governor of Texas has just issued a proclamation making Barbara Taylor Bradford a citizen of the state of Texas. The proclamation was made at a ceremony in the presence of former First Lady Barbara Bush and other dignitaries in Houston, while Barbara attended a fundraiser forTaping For The Blind.

The event was followed the next day by a sold-out charity luncheon with over 500 guests attending, sponsored by the Baylor College of Medicine. Barbara was honored on the 30th anniversary of  A Woman of Substance and the launch of her new bestselling novel, Breaking The Rules.

A Yorkshire woman has won a national award to find Britain's real woman of substance.

Lisa Salmon, 42, from Horsforth, Leeds, was crowned "A Woman of Substance 2009" by bestselling author Barbara Taylor Bradford and Sarah, The Duchess of York, at a glittering awards ceremony hosted by HarperCollins at The Dorchester last night (10 September 2009).

A luxury edition of Barbara Taylor Bradford’s A Woman of Substance was recently published by HarperCollins to coincide with the 30th anniversary of this classic novel.

Copies of the limited edition book - with a one-off print run of 750 copies - will all be beautifully covered with luxury purple velvet. Each book will contain a specially commissioned Emma Harte family tree and a sepia photographic section of Barbara Taylor Bradford’s life in pictures. This week, BTB spoke to and entertained in excess of 2000 fans and readers in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson Arizona, presenting her latest bestselling novel, Breaking The Rules.

At a major luncheon to support the Arizona Kidney Foundation, Barbara spoke to over 1,200 attendees after being introduced by CNN's Larry King. This stellar event was held at the Biltmore Resort. Other special guests included Valerie Bertinelli and Phil Donahue (pictured above). Dozens had to be turned away from this sold-out gala.

Earlier in the week, Barbara was the guest of honor at a pair of events for Brandeis University alumni in Scottsdale and Tucson. Both sold-out events were attended by approximately 1000 enthusiastic women.

Upon departing for New York, Barbara told press reps that, "while tiring, this Arizona trip was one of the most rewarding I have participated in. The Kidney Foundation's work and research is vitally important."

Barbara spent many hours signing books to her fans and got to personally thank them for their loyalty.

The event, which also honored AIG President and CEO Martin Sullivan was held at Manhattan's Rainbow Room. Best-selling novelist, Barbara Taylor Bradford was awarded her OBE (The Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II on October 10, 2007. The official Investiture took place at Buckingham Palace in London. This award, which was announced in June, was on the Queen's Birthday Honors List. It recognizes Mrs. Bradford for her services to Literature. Her husband, Robert Bradford accompanied her to the Investiture.

Barbara Taylor Bradford was born in Leeds, Yorkshire and started her professional writing career on the Yorkshire Evening Post. Barbara was in the UK to accept THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD from The Variety Club of Great Britain on December 8th at a gala luncheon in Leeds. The sold-out luncheon was attended by a record crowd of business leaders and many of Barbara's loyal readers. On September 28th in London, Barbara was the guest of honor at the brand new Bond Street location for Moussaieff Jewelers. The event also celebrated the UK release of Barbara's The Ravenscar Dynasty.
